The use problems Toyota cold air in my own way, using more gas! What should I do?
I have a corolla 97 and is an automatic 4 cylinder, so its usually large gas ... when I hit a Injen cold air intake that has cost me too much money really started to affect consumption Gasoline hooked me up according to the instructions and it looks and sounds great but I've been noticing that gas is falling too fast my stock air filter only had a hose that goes to what I used on the new configuration had to plug one hole in the pipe, but because there was a tube protruding the other hose ... the hose is? if any? What is that? that is the problem? I also have a flowmaster exhaust system (silencer) on my car my car is taking too much air and then expelling too fast or efficient for its doesn't have time to burn correctly? ii am thinking of switching back to the old if I can get some help! thanks tuners
Firstly, why the hell do you put a cold air intake in a 4-cylinder automatic? that really defeats the purpose of the overall effciency of a cylinder 4. And yes, the intake combined with its exhaust is killing your gas mileage. to cold air functioning need to be heated faster than hot that produce more energy. more power is the result of burning more fuel. their escape, that is designed to pierce the air faster than the flow of values is not helping much. essentially mean that you're working your 4-cylinder, supercharged, as a cylinder, 6. drain more gas to increase power. I am sure that your car performs very nice and has lots of oooph to it now, but is sacrificing the cost of its gas. and with gas prices today are what they are, you're just dumping money needlessly on his walk. had something like a Mustang or Camaro then I can see the reason to put a cold air there since anyway get shit mileage. but your 4 cyl was designed to be fuel efficient, and now fuel have made it inefficient. the other hose that had to connect, I guess, would be a NOS system. it is in the air filter or leading to your air filter, which is where the game goes into extra hose to inject NOS increased airflow. my advice would be, or switch back and save their gifts to get a car more powerful, or plan to fill several times a week.
