Should I rebuild my C6 transmission or buy another?
I just bought a Ford engine 460 for my 66 Lincoln Continental, which has a 462ci V8 engine already in it with 68k miles on it and transmission. Should I rebuild the transmission on the C6 itself for the new Ford 460 or have to go with a new transmission? If I new one to go and what kind? New Ford 460 specifications below: Complete rebuilt ford 460 1) hot block Tanked, Magna flux 2) Most boring block .30, W / plates cover tune Sunn 3) new freeze plugs brass 4) The power SEALED block bearings coated 5) rods reconditioned 6), power line ready. 7) triple deck paddle head work angle valve comes with Edelbrock carburetor 750. Weiand aluminum intake IES dist to run on Ford, new pump water, fuel pump, all pulleys and air filter media, including Edelbrock exhaust manifold and an engine swap kit to fit 460 in a chassis this foxbody
With so much work (and money) has entered its engine, which would make sense for me to put in at least a C6 cool. A transmission shop can build confidence a C6 bullet proof that you do not have to worry when the go pedal mashed. Depending on the amount of money you want to invest, an overdrive transmission (s say, AOD, AODE and 4R70W) could be installed. However, there would be to deal with the electronics, the drive shaft to change the gear shift and may have to be changed, some may require adapters and more importantly, it would be wrong ... PRNDL
